Frosted Green Overshot Scarf of Cotton, Silk, and a Merino/Silk Blend
A luxurious scarf made of pure cotton, hand-dyed green silk, and an ebony zephyr-weight merino/silk blend. The natural, undyed cotton mutes the green silk thread to a frosted mint colour with a subtle sheen. This scarf has drape, shimmer, warmth and softness.
Dimensions: 14 inches wide, about 72 inches in length including fringe.
Care: hand wash in Luke or cold water with a gentle soap. Lay flat to dry. The wool may felt if agitated. Press with a hot steam iron if needed.

or those of you who enjoy a historical context, Overshot was brought to Canada and the Untied States by norther European settlers and became quite the craze in the mid-eighteenth century. Coverlets made in overshot during the Colonial era are priceless finds in antique shops. The pattern is sometimes scorned as “too pioneer” for a lot of modern weavers, but Jane Stafford, who teaches weaving through her online guild, teaches us that a modern take on old weave structures can be a lot of fun.
