Woven Lace - called Barley Corn or Bronson Spot - Scarf in Silk and Cotton

$299.00

A generous scarf on a soft cotton warp, woven with two colors of silk weft.  This scarf is extremely drapey, and what i consider a mid-weight (not as heavy as wool, but heavier than the fine gauzy sari scarves).  It’s in soft purple and greys, perfectly matched to an overcast sky, but looking forward to spring flowers.

The structure is a woven lace called barley corn or spot Bronson depending on your source.  One side highlights the purple silk, and the other side highlights the icy white silk and looks like ice crystals. This scarf is based off a design from Jane Stafford Textiles. If you ever want to learn to weave, her Online School of Weaving is the absolute best!

Hand wash in cold water, blot and lay flat to dry.  Press if needed with a hot, dry iron.  50% rack silk and cotton.  70 inches long, plus 7-inch fringes, 13 inches wide.

Weaving

This scarf has an alternating 2-thread weft - one thread is a fine, not-quite-white silk, and the other is a thicker purple silk thread. Each alternates to create the pattern design and background fabric for the lace weave.
